FI-8000 Fumigation/Anaesthetic Gas Monitor Overview
Following on from the popularity of the FI-21, the FI-8000 fumigation/anaesthetic gas monitor has now been equipped with enhanced capability to detect new gases, and has been reduced in size.
The FI-8000 fumigation/anaesthetic gas monitor with IECEx / ATEX / IP-67 is the latest model from Riken in a long line of optical interferometers dating back to the 1930’s when Riken’s founder first developed the technology for methane detection to help prevent explosion accidents on oil tankers and in coal mines.
Gases Measured: This version of the FI-8000 fumigation/anaesthetic gas monitor has been setup to measure commonly used fumigants such as sulfuryl fluoride (SO2F2) / sulphuryl fluoride / vikane® / profume®, phosphine (PH3), methyl iodide (CH3I) / iodomethane / MEL, propylene oxide (CH3CHCH2O), hydrogen cyanide (HCN), and methyl bromide (CH3Br) / bromomethane.
The principal operation is the comparison of the gas’s optical refractive index, so there are no moving parts or sensor-drift issues. This makes the calibration remain very stable. The FI-8000 fumigation/anaesthetic gas monitor displays the vaporiser output concentration and does not require correction factors. This instrument measures the concentration of desflurane (suprane), sevoflurane, isoflurane (forane), and halothane as a percentage.
Applications: The FI-8000 fumigation/anaesthetic gas monitor is also used in many other applications, including anaesthesia, solvents, inert gases, toxic gases, and gas purity.
