FP-31 Portable Formaldehyde Gas Detector Overview

The portable formaldehyde gas detector model FP-31 is a precision gas analyser that measures gases in the ppm range using the photoelectric photometry method with chlorimetric detection tabs. This device is a highly sensitive portable instrument with an easy-to-read LCD display. The unit can detect very low levels of formaldehyde to confirm whether an area has safe breathing levels. There are no known interfering gases, as shown on the chart on the reverse side of this sheet.

Inbuilt Microprocessor

The built-in microprocessor-controlled sample pump of the FP-31 draws the sample over the tab, providing a direct digital readout. The inbuilt data logger will store up to 99 readings that can be viewed on the display or downloaded onto a PC. The FP-31 is designed to monitor formaldehyde at levels below the World Health Organisation level of 0.08 ppm (based on an average reading over 30 minutes, with a resolution of 0.005 ppm). There are two ranges available for this model.

Detection

The portable formaldehyde gas detector FP-31 uses a photoelectric photometry method that utilises colourimetric tablets for detection. A tablet is placed into the instrument, and then a room air sample is pumped onto the tablet for either 15 or 30 minutes. If formaldehyde is present, it will cause the chemically impregnated tablet surface to darken or stain.

The Stain

The magnitude of the stain directly correlates to the level of formaldehyde in the air. The darkness of the stain is measured by an optical sensor in the portable formaldehyde gas detector model FP-31, and the instrument then calculates the formaldehyde concentration. The portable formaldehyde gas detector model FP-31 then has a direct readout of the formaldehyde measurement on an easy-to-read LCD display. The unit can detect very low levels of formaldehyde to confirm whether an area has safe breathing levels. There are no known interfering gases, as shown on the chart on the reverse side of this sheet.
